Hi Windows Insiders, we’re excited to release the first Windows 11 Insider Preview build in the Dev Channel! As we finalize the product in the coming months, we’ll work with you to validate the experience. You’ll be able to try many, but not all, of the new features we showed in this early preview last week. We’ll bring more features like chat with Microsoft Teams and Android apps to the Microsoft Store in the coming months as soon as they’re ready for you—we’re just starting this journey together!

Changes and improvements –

– [General]
Windows 11 is moving from Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) to Voice Access. WSR is no longer supported. When you open WSR, you’ll see a dialog telling you to try Voice Access. Also, a banner has been added under Settings > Accessibility > Speech. Voice Access, our new assistive technology in Windows 11, uses on-device speech recognition and lets you control your PC and compose text without an internet connection. Multiple languages and custom commands will be supported in a future update (these features are now available for Windows Insiders to try out in the Beta Channel, as mentioned above). They encourage WSR users to try Voice Access today.

– [Nearby Sharing]
They’re introducing the ability to quickly give your device a more user-friendly name to identify sharing to and from Nearby Share under Settings > System > Nearby Sharing.

– [Narrator]
Narrator users can now use Voice Access to open applications, dictate text, and interact with items on the screen using their voice. Narrator users can use Voice Access to give Narrator commands using their voice. For example, “speak faster”, “read next line”, etc. To get started, search for “voice access” in Windows Search and set it up.

Fixes –

– [Task Manager]
When creating a dump file for a process, the dump file location should now be selectable so you can copy it.

– [Desktops]
Made some improvements to fix an issue where the background could jump when switching between desktops
